Artist Statement
Through expressive painting I try to let the colours sing and tell the story. I work at falling away from detailed work to a more expressive mark.
For most of my life I have needed to express myself visually. The process of creating excites and challenges me. As I paint or sketch a face, figure or a place I see and feel the moment in front of me. Not only is there a picture but a feeling that I try to portray on my canvas. It is my life and everything that is going around me.
When an image calls me to be painted I am reliving the moment I was there. I hope to let my viewers relive the magic moment I have tried to captivate. I hope that the images I portray invite them to remember a certain moment that they have experienced.
As the Artist I am continually striving for a new challenge. My quest is “To tell the whole story without missing a word.”
